Basic Information About The Initiative
"Aman Biradari Trust was formally registered as an organization in 2004. Aman Biradari aspires to build local level institutions mainly of youth and women, of diverse faith, caste and gender, at village and district levels to strengthen mutual bonds of tolerance, fraternity, respect and peace between people of different religious groups, caste and language groups, to promote equal citizenship, justice, communal harmony, peace, and the celebration of our social and cultural diversity. It has been working in partnership with ActionAid since 2011. Initially the project was focused upon facilitating legal justice to the victims of riots of 2002. It transitioned to social justice and humanity initiative while in Nf phase itself in 2012. In 2014 long term partnership started with ActionAid to support the LRP called Initiative for Social Justice and Humanity, focused upon peace, communal harmony and social justice. Given the history of communal, caste and gender violence prevalent in society, the focus of the initiative is upon building a peaceful and just society by working to prevent violence based on religion, caste and gender. The project is engaged with marginalized communities Muslims, Dalits, Tribals and OBCs in 30 villages and urban centres in three districts namely, Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha and Anand for peace building and promoting social justice and humanity. The efforts are being made to continuously bring people together on common platforms so that their personal and social prejudices against each other are challenged and changed."
